Morning Thoughts

Random Quote in my head:
"I feel your scented mother whispering her approval to me every day."
-Must Love Dogs

I know a lot of my romantic ideas come from many places but movies the most. It's just because you get the lyrics, the visual and the music. It's a sense overload. A lot of thoughts tend to come from movies about middle aged divorced women, usually layed by Diane Lane. It's quite odd. "He just stopped loving me. And I don't what I did, or what I didn't do. He just stopped." See, right there, we just had an honest moment. That's what Sarah Nolan(Diane Lane) said to Jake(John Cusack) after he shared his theory about being as honest as you can with a person on the first date because you have the least to lose. The movie is pretty incredible, and really good for you if you are going through divorce. There won't be a lot of Jake's(John Cusack) out there for you to find, but maybe a few Bobby's (Dermot Molroney). So when you get the chance and want a quiet romantic comedy...watch Must Love Dogs.

I suppose that's all for now. We'll see how the rest of the day plays out.

Explanation...

So I know the whole poem thing threw you all off. When did I become a poet? I didn't . My poetry sucks, sometimes I make it rhyme. It's always been a little juvenile. That I will attest to. But I just been going through these weird emotions. It's just that I hold a firm believe that everyone comes into your life for a reason. And it's sort of your job to figure out what it means. And when you find evidentiary support via books and whatnot you begin to question harder. Like, at first you thought it was something else, maybe a little sexual and even a little romantical.

But then it wasn't that at all. I mean is BLATANTLY not that after you spend more time with that person. I mean then you get mixed signals and you think, maybe it is that. But you know it really isn't and then you try to put that puzzle piece you had when you first liked them and it doesn't fit anymore. You just can't square it away, because the puzzle's the same, but the piece doesn't fit where it used to. So the question beckons where do you put the puzzle piece now. I guess you have to put it off to the side till you figure out where it actually goes. And don't tell the person this, because then you just sound crazy and in denial. Which might be true too, but you really don't know at this point because you can't figure it out. And then you do stupid things in the meantime to like try to figure it out and it only becomes more complicated. And that's only because you tried to simplify it You can't break emotions down to a science. They're irrational for a reason.

I think when something confuses you this much. You just have to bolt in the other direction. Just run, it'll make sense later, and even if it doesn't, it'll be one of those weird stories you tell people about the time you couldn't figure out what it is you wanted to know about someone. You have to just let some things be unpeggable (or just a plain mystery.)

And I've gotta stop listening to Amy Winehouse...she's making me crazy. Just crazy. I love her, but enough is enough. I am on a Winehouse sabbatical. But I hope she gets better and makes a new Album.

So hopefully I can say my goodbyes and make a clean break? And don't worry I have totally been sleeping. I sound like I'm off my rocker. This is why I know bolting is a great decision.

Sorry that Grey's Anatomy blog ain't coming for a while. Lol, sorry readers. This is what happens when you read free shit. Some of it's good, some of it's my emotional baggage. Which I don't normally have...The only baggage I like is Coach or Louis Vuitton.

When the World Changed....

I woke up and the world had changed.
There was no warning, no neon red lights.
It was just different.

I had aged 23 years.
My toys were collecting dust.
There was responsibility sitting on my dresser.

I didn't want to see it, so I worked around it.
I turned on the TV and watched a few cartoons
I dusted off those old toys and shined them like new.
I told myself I didn't have to move forward,
I just needed a little time

I needed time out from the shady night life.
I needed time out from mixed signals.
I needed time out from reality

I could have drank.
I could have smoked.
I could have snorted.
But none of that's me.
Well, except maybe the drinking part.

I just don't see how it all follows.
The rules are different now.
The pace and the problems.
I just want to hold your hand.

Just your hand...

When did you want so much?
All of sudden it's too much
We're through before we began...
and you're gone...
I wake up alone.

I put the toys away.
I shackle on my common sense.
So I've learned not to nap.
It's a temporary relief.

I bide my time cleaning and writing.
But your jacket's there haunting me.
Striped mockery.
I foolishly miss you.
But I'm thankful I didn't foolishly kiss you

My poetry sucks.
So you both have that in common.

Research and (Sexual) Development

I found myself watching the first episode of Sex and the City again. It's a really good introduction into the world of relationships in Manhattan as well all over. It made think I should blog about the relationships in Miami. The landscape of relationships haven't changed much since the end of Sex and the City last aired but I think it's one of those topics that never go out of style. We all make and end new friendships, connections (both physical and emotional) constantly.

I wondered: "What has made dating in Miami so fragmented?" I know a lot of really good people who are single and lot of people who should be single yet are trapped in these abusive relationships. I met a girl today who offered an interesting quote from a Spaniard(Genuinely from Spain). He said that we Americans dance like we're having sex, but the Spaniards actually go home and have sex. I think it's true. Miami is sort of this cesspool where people come to be morally ambiguous. You make out with someone one day, and then ignore them the next. It's sort of this ridiculous rule book that when you don't know...when you find out or see it in action you think you're on an episode of S&tC. The behavior is a far cry from the ideals we all learned( Or should have learned.)

What you have to understand is that this generation is a new wave of things both good and bad. I guess we'll go on this journey and navigate it together.

Holy Shitfaced Batman

So this weekend was jam packed weekend of events and adventures. First up was Friday at Sam's place "By Whole Foods." where I met Kate Todd, who is by the way, fabulous beyond comparison. She's like Karen Walker(From Will & Grace) in a shorter, blonde package. She was ridiculously hilarious and Sam will have to invite her in town more often. I met a lot of interesting people and I could go over all of them. But I am gonna give you the readers digest. Sam has a nice place and a nice group of friends, most of whom I met drunk and if they see me, again, hopefully they had enough to drink to forget me. I ended up staying at a friends and had to do the walk of shame the next day when I got home...wearing the same clothes I wore to go out that night. For shame. I've decided...I really can't be responsible...in the sense of going to bed early, getting up and reading and coffee and all that nonsense...until I'm like 28...I'm on a plan. Besides, I'm a night owl. I do all my best thinking when the sun goes down. That doesn't include when I drink. The rules are you don't drive drunk! Ever. Because it's not as cool as Paris Hilton makes it seem. But other than that...if it's not unreasonably illegal go bananas. Because when you're Thirty-something and are locked into you responsibilities....you're gonna wonder, should I have had more fun when I was in my early twenties and had the world at my feet? And if you go and try to party at thirty, the way you did at twenty, you will lose. Just about every time.

Saturday My Deedee turned 16 so her mom threw this little shindig that was pretty fun. Her friends did the Soulja Boy dance. It was Hood-a-licious. We went to Nick's place before going to D-Tek! It was a fun little social soiree. His place is something out of H&G or something. It was the right color with the right furniture. It was really swanky. It was our last night with Kate before she went back to school. We tired her out I believe. Because she went home early. Anyway, Andrew Stiles( (Whose name I have to say completely, even when I speak to him.) informed me of some imported slang from DC. Everyone has to start using Totes Perf (Which is Totally Perfect.) and Dag. The use of Totes Perf should be obvious. But Dag, is a little harder. In the dictionary it is conventionally used as : an unfashionable or socially conservative person. But in the context of Saturday night it was just used to describe a less than desirable situation or state of being. "No popcorn for the movie? That's so dag." "Oh these polos aren't on sale? Dag. The fabric looks cheap anyway." I suppose you could replace F&*@ with Dag...if you are trying to clean up your vocabulary. Anyway that's it for now. I know it wasn't as exciting as you'd hoped. I would try to be more candid...but you're not ready for it. Lol. I keep all my really juicy stories for in person.

Back to work tomorrow! Last week was the real first week back, but I am hoping this week will be a more normal version of the first week back. One of my Bosses comes back TUESDAY! FInally. I haven't seen her for like a month, and I miss her. And another boss had a baby and I haven't seen her for multiple months. In March our little English Dept should normalize. Thanks for Peter's help we've got a few things done.

Don't worry your pretty little head's My Grey's Anatomy Post is coming soon. This season and the strike just threw me all off.

XOXO (Gossip Girl has me doing this. Hopefully I can stop.)

Gossip Girl & Friends

So this weeks episode of Gossip Girl was pretty good. Poor S, people thought she went back to her party girl ways. How dare she think could buy a pregnancy test in private? In Manhattan there are no walls, no corner is private. I'm beginning to love the show in a big way. Cruel Intentions used to be my Bible. I just loved the way Kathryn always got what she wanted. But in the end it was to her own detriment. I like the way Blair tried to remain pure, yet she is so obviously flawed. It's kind of skank her sleeping with two guys in one week. But at least they weren't at the same time. But worry not, Paris Hilton has pretty much covered the market on skank socialite behavior. So she can relax, at least until her next scandal.

Later I got to thinking about friendships and the various kinds. I took along hard look at the friendships I had made over the years. The majority of them have been pretty solid. I feel like I can actually gauge the success rate. The friends I had doubts about have shown their true colors and some of them had to be voted off the island. I think I've narrowed down the best kind of friends. Each one plays a significant role in the evolution of me. But, at the top of the list currently are the fiends who challenge me. They make me think and pick my brain. I truly believe I was meant to meet certain people. My existence would just not be complete. Then there are the ones that feel me and just match unique thought process. I could name names but these people know who they are. Anyway I am on my phone. I will add more and tweak later.

XOXO

IDK(I Don't Know) about being a Journalist sometimes.

With the state of things the way they are. I sometimes question myself going to school to be a journalist. The real news is few and far between, and even some of the big trusted names are faltering. Was it the Death of Ana Nicole that sped up this Celebrity Cyclone of news? I recently read an article in the NYTimes about Stephen King. He was saying that Lindsay and Britney should have tied for TIME Magazine's Person of the Year. He was, of course joking. He was just disgusted how much media attention these girls get, as apposed to real news.

Now I don't know about you, but I have a Love/Hate relationship with Celebrity news. At times I am overjoyed to find out that a certain actor or actress is working on a project and maybe even that they got married, and or whatever else makes them happy. I don't think that's an abnormal thing. In the old days Actors were put on a pedestal. Hell, Lucile ball could have actually been a communist and gotten away with it. America loved her that much. However, nowadays technology has allowed us to break down the barriers between ourselves and Hollywood. We can get the "real" reel scoop. We sometimes get pictures, and if we're really lucky or unlucky (depends on how you view it) we get video. Oh Tara Reid didn't get into a club? Haha, she's common like the rest of us right? Wrong! Tara Reid is a loser--period. Just because she's a celebrity who didn't get to do something Celebrities normally do, does not make her better or worse than any of us. Yea, it looks pretty bad on TMZ she made all these movies and it doesn't mean jack-$&*# in the world(California) where it's suppose to. But I think we need a reality overhaul in 2008.

I'm tired of people being so Damn concerned with the scar on Britney's snatch, and less concerned with the content of her character. Martin Luther King Jr. was right about being able to judge people not by appearance but by their integrity. And let's face it people, Britney doesn't have much of either left. And, who the hell wears a Pink Ass wig to be incognito? Who!?! A F*ing cartoon character is who. She doesn't make sense in the real world. And she wants to play mommy and pretend to read Chronicles of Narnia books while she is driving? You know, It's sad because, she probably can't be left alone with those kids for more than an 30 minutes. She looks a hott ass mess. I really shouldn't be talking about her for so long.

But she really is one of the BIGGEST problems in America. She makes so much bank(money) every day and she's demoralizing America. And just when you thought, the little sister couldn't be as stupid. She's even worse, she's starting early. I wanted to believe the little sister had her $h*t together but, NO. As fertile as Britney is, Jamie Lynn goes and gets herself pregnant. (There is even speculation as to who is the daddy now. It could be one of the MUCH older producers of Zoe101, her hit Nickelodeon TV show.) It makes me sick to my stomach. She's 16...I mean accidents happen all the time. I know some wonderful kids who were accidents. But at 16 I draw the line. There is too much out there to prevent pregnancy for you not to seek it out. And you get what you deserve if they didn't use protection. They are asking if the media is blowing it out of proportion? And they're not. It's a big deal. Yes, it happens everyday to good kids, but mostly you see things like this on Jerry Springer. If we start to moralize that it's ok to have kids at 16, when your brain isn't even done developing, then we're going to have other kids emulating this behavior. TV is a powerful, visual monster. The repeatability of certain images or even just the one-time viewing can be detrimental to a child's understanding of how the world works.

But what's sad is those b*tches, and yes I say b*tches. (If you bring a child into this world and don't intent to take care of it, or at least give it to someone who can properly care for it, then you're a b*tch.) If you have an abortion I don't have a clause on that...you have to take that up with your God. But in my book one less unloved child is one less F'd up adult. And we all know what F'd up adults are capable of. Straight people hate Britney because she's Trailer Trash, the Gays hate her because she doesn't have her six pack and can no longer lipync to her own dumb song. I just hate her because she has all these resources and she's never going to get to be a full person. She's always been told what to do, she's used to Schedule and Routine, and having kids throws a huge wrench in her regular routine. Especially because she wasn't ready for it.

Madonna was able to slow down and have a family life. But then a again, she is Madonna. She had almost done everything in the book before she decided to do so. Even she had tumultuous home life. But did have to see it constantly. Did she go out of her way to shock us? Yes, she most certainly did. But anything Madonna ever did made people think.

You can't sit down and Analyze "Gimme More"? It sounds like a Cum-Whore line in a cheesy Porno. Her Career was over for me with "Me Against the Music." Ever since she broke up with Justin--that has been her downfall. She shouldn't have cheated on him. She's the classic White Trash romance: cheats on a good hometown guy, gets with another Po-Dunk like herself., and makes trashy home movies for the world to see of them belching and hanging out on patios, then gets preggers. The husband who has many kids of his own, leaves her or she leaves him.

If she were as smart as we all thought she was she would have gotten pregnant with Justin's baby. That's the meal ticket right there. If he would have hit her baby one more time, she would have been set. But simple girls always want the bad boy. They want the "Justin Bobby", the here and now, dangerous, aloof rebel. And I say simple girls, because if you don't see a future in the relationship, why do it? Why get attached? Because you don't want to be a one night stand? Please people would be better off being a one night stand, than a three year mess.

It's three in the morning... and see even my blogs have Britney in them. I guess I can't totally blame the media. I just wish she'd move to Alaska and we didn't have to hear about her for a few years. Stop haunting us...I'm not serious enough to read hard news, but she's making celebrity news unbearable. And she's the one who loves to bare, so she needs to quit.

On the flip side of this argument there is a movie coming out called "Juno," which I really want to see that deals with the premise of teen pregnancy. It'll be interesting to see the way the movie handles it. I understand there are a lot of girls who end up pregnant earlier than planned. It's not a judgement on my part about who they are. It's just, every one of those girls should be reinforcing the fact that your entire life changes, that they miss out on so much. I know in this day and age we try to make everything seem less than what it actually is. But I also think we are creating a more responsible world, where people can't just drive drunk and get away with it, even if you're Paris Hilton. Well, if you're Nicole Ritchie, that's another story. Come on, her dad sings "All Night Long." (Kidding, I do not believe that was a good excuse to get her off.) But it's all right to let your child know, early pregnancy is not the end of the world, but it is a huge pause. Hell Gilmore Girls had that young mother premise and it's one of the best shows every written. Even though it's over, still one of the best. And that was a BEST CASE scenario, even with Lorelai's parents being rich she still went off and raised a child by herself. Single parenting is hard enough without it being young single parenting. There are too many resources out there for you not to get pregnant, that doing so is just careless in this day and age. We need to let kids know that condoms are ok for them to have. I would rather have them and use them without me having to know that to try and pretend that they're the one case where the guy will pull out just in time. And if Jamie Lynn wasn't using condoms that means she was also at risk for STD's. It's just so aggravating. She better become a damn advocate for birth control. There's ways for her to turn this around, and I hope she takes a higher road than her nutty sister.
