Grey's Anatomy: Seeing Grey

Commentary on "Losing my Religion."

So I know that many of you watched the season finale of Grey's Anatomy, which was really like three episodes jam-packed into two nights of unadulterated, (wait no...there was some adultery going on) fun. Hehe, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of mistakes people make, well-knowing the consequences. I am guilty of this myself of course, but there are sometimes when the universe makes allowances. Like last night.

He had those eyes and she had that dress, what else did you expect to happen? It was like I thought it, and my TV willed to into fruition. And ok yes, the panties coming off was a little skanky ( I mean they didn't have to show those panties and they did...God love 'em.) but it was what we all waited for the entire season. We had watched Derek, who by the way chased Meredith, made her fall in love with him, and then left her to be with his wife. I admit, staying married was an admirable thing to do, a stupid one, but that's who Derek is. But raise your hand if you're tired of seeing Derek play the hero.
"When you waited two months to tell me, and I have to find out by her showing up all leggy and fabulous and telling me herself. You pulled the plug on a sink with an open drain. Anything you say runs right out, there is no enough."

If this is measure of how American Society has changed due to the invention of television it is sad and sort of funny at the same time. How many people are praying that Derek will leave his wife and that Meredith (Who by the way just pieced back together her life. I means Finn has plans, all sorts of plans.) leaves Finn and gets back together with Derek. Hate McDreamy for being so damn appealing and so damn unavailable to Meredith. Calling her a whore, you're the whore. I mean it's a lot of drama to deal with in one sitting. Finn is a great guy, no matter how scary or damaged,(He saved Gotham City, and I'm sure banged Alicia Silverstone.) and that small insight into his background a few episodes ago just makes you feel for him. And even Addison I've developed feelings for. She loved her husband, and he was soo damn apathetic that he caught her cheating and didn't even bother to show how angry he was. I would like to quote McSteamy:"He catches me in bed with his wife, I mean actually in the throws, and he just walks away. But he sees me so much as talking to you and I'm on the floor bleeding."
So in my eyes, that marriage is over, it was over even before Addison cheated on Derek. The fact that he stayed with her and even tried to make it was a great sign of how McDreamy will one day be a good McDad.

Poor McVet, if Meredith doesn't choose him, he might become an alcoholic or something, not that I'd blame him. He's got issues all on his own that we haven't even touched yet.

Now onto to Callie and George...what is that? It's so odd. She is soo....SOO, and he is soo George. But I like George a lot because in his own way, he's a McMinni, I mean he knows how to say the right thing, in just the right way, when he's not flustered or nervous. I've yet to hear the other Doctors really get through to patients the way George has, Burke's pretty good, but to some degree they all sound clinical, George just sounds warm and friendly.

And what the hell were they thinking shooting Burke? Burke...My head of Cardiothoracic surgery shot on my surgical floor? They have got to be kidding me. I think as scary a move as it was to have him shot it was worth it, it showed him as being more human, because lord knows as much as he claims to be a person, he's a little androidian(you know, like a robot.) And how much of a mess was Cristina this episode. As much as you want to condemn her for being hesistant, she's grown a lot. I think Burke might be the first real guy she's opened up to and that scares her a little bit.

Well, Bailey didn't have too much going on except that her interns were running a muck behind her back, falling in love with patients, asking about dog bones, falling asleep during sex, trying to escape the vagina squad, and not saying I love you in return, but most of all having to go to the prom. And damn did you see here micromanage the prom of the century? Bailey is a complex woman. "I like Judy dolls, I own Judy dolls, the only problem I have is that they're in the bowel of this man."
Alex showed a little heart this episode but he hasn't redeemed himself.

The Chief, I will leave alone, he has issues as well.

Now, the good stuff. Denny and Izzy. She looked amazing in that dress, she was dolled up, no doubt. But she was inevitably unlucky. We all knew Denny was going to die at some point in the show. Shows like this, with people that sick are always there for a reason. I mean don't get me wrong he was looking strong, but his proposal said it all. She steals a heart for him and they live happily ever after. After she broke almost all of the vows she swore as a Doctor she wouldn't. Denny was a good guy, I would have liked to see them at least have had more time. But life is unexpected like that, things happen, complications occur and people leave, even when things are going well. So I guess the moral message was to cherish your loved ones, but also don't steal hearts. Because when they don't belong to you...they really don't belong to you. 17 seconds. or not. That was really dramatic having her walk out in that dress, and even be in that bed next to his corpse in that dress, there is some good ass thinking going on over there Shonda Rhimes. You're ridiculously smart.

So what now?
A
summer of repeats...endless Sundays without the warmth of a new episode?
Get a life people...if anything Grey's should inspire you to join the medical field. I could learn about appendectamies and pericardiotomies all day long...almost. They should use that in school...educational entertainment. It works. I know more about cystic fibrosis, nemothorax, and pericardial windows than I can even express.

And really...if you must cry. For the summer will be Grey...but it's like what 3 Months...My heart is still recovering. They did that final 3 episodes thing to last us the three months, they did a good job...I have no qualms about the show...it gives you this indescribable warm, sad, playful, intelligent, sometimes incredibly painful sense of relevance. Life just didn't make sense before Grey's Anatomy (Ok maybe it's not that serious...but seriously. Seriously....)
