Be Extraordinary

I had forgotten to post this. Oops. It's my Grey's blog. I didn't have time to read it over, but here it is if you were looking for it.

She was an extraordinary woman, Ellis. Meredith was too busy in her shadow to notice she was better. It's funny how that works out, you live your life so much in fear of others you sometimes forget if you step outside all your worry, your guilt, your inferiority complex and you realize..."I'm just me." And that's just great. I heard a quote the other day that's been ringing in my ear. "Don't try to be a mediocre version of someone else, try to be a an [extraordinary] version of yourself." Meredith had finally found that out for herself. We've seen her from the beginning struggle with issues from both parents. All those issues manifested themselves in her friendships, her work, and especially her love life. She really had a "drown my sorrows," type attitude. Except when she tried water instead of tequila she almost ended it for good. I love the development of her relationship with Cristina. Cristina's really been her anchor and vice versa. Lines like..."Are you in the dark place?" and "Do you want to dance it out?" just remind me of my own weird idiosyncrasies I've developed with friends over the years. Grey's has a natural quality of relating to the human spirit.

But you really came to hear me gush about how happy I am about Meredith and Derek, didn't you? Well...I'm not going to do it. Damn well should have happened by now though. I would have been royally pissed had they not gotten back together. Derek's still so honorable and Meredith is still so extraordinary. She helped him save a life that could potentially lead to more life saving. Well not for the Soldier, the Woman with the Cinderella story or the guy with the Bear attack...but they hopefully have it right now. Besides, I'm sort of over the Meredith and Derek cliff-hanger. They are just going to have to sink into the Happy-Ever-After background and be pillars of the relationship committee. It's going to be work, like everything else in life. But at the end of the day Derek says she can expect him to be there. And weather or not he tries to be, he ends up there. If a wife didn't hold him back, I don't know what made him think that a girlfriend was going to stand a chance. I love that Rose bowed out so gracefully. She didn't miss a beat. I adore her now. Her and Sloan are going to have sex. She deserves a treat. I believe she might be the thing to change him. And HOW awkward would that be between Derek and Mark. I can just see Derek in the elevator all smug, "You just can't resist my leftovers. It's kind sick." Mark: "Come on Derek, Rose is a nice girl. I am trying to change." Derek:"Woman Mark, she's a decent woman. And that means she's all wrong for you." But who knows. I secretly just want Rose to stick around in any capacity. She's genuine I believe and it would make for so much fun. I love especially that Derek kept his honor about him and told her before he did anything serious with Meredith. He really is McDreamy, it's not just the hair. I'm taking notes. I hope to be a McSomething some day.

And how much did you love their patient? She's a very pretty young actress by the name of Jurnee Smollet. You might have seen her in Eve's Bayou, Full House, and maybe even E.R. She hasn't done anything breakout yet, but I think there's potential for her now that she's a bit older. Kinda sucks her boyfriend died. But it was helpful that his death wasn't in vain and they learned something that helped save her.

Yang's got her Mojo Back

Yang's going to be dating soon, and I can't wait to see the comedic situations that will stem from her nervousness about getting back into the dating arena. It's been a tough time at work, so a relationship was the last thing she needed this season. I think she's fully healed from Burke. The sexual history speech was what we needed to hear from her so we could see how she's dealing with being in the exact same place, yet without Burke and without cardio-thoracic surgery. I'm glad the Chief finally put his foot down on Hahn. She seemed to be angry that Yang always had relationships with her mentors. But I just think that Hahn was scared that Yang was secretly better than her, or could easily become that way. She did study under the Doctor who won the Harper Avery.

The Vagina Monologues
Too weird for words. Callie, being a husky girl always gave me a little bit of a lesbian vibe. But like her sexual history gave no indication she wanted to test the waters on the other side. They've sort of eased into it, but I guess it's like when she said that they've been in school so long they're socially awkward and retarded. So maybe this is the equivalent of her experimental College years? Loved the naughty look on Mark's face when Hahn and Callie kissed. Classic expression. Not as good as good as the hotel room one with Addison, you know with the towel and the steam? But good none the less. A good Grey Moment.

Alex...is a Hott Mess.
Need I say more? He's not the under dog, but he sure as hell carries a lot of crap on his shoulders. And he likes to think he can just keep packing more on. But he can't. He should have never gotten with a patient in the first place. Ava/Rebecca has a huge forehead. But it's nice to know she has a medical reason for being so out of control. How unsexy was it when she pissed her pants on the couch? At least she wasn't just a liar. At least she really believed she lost that baby and wasn't just playing possum with our emotions. She needs a haircut...she's lookin' a hott mess also. I like that Izzy cared enough to be there for him. I like that she finally stepped up as a doctor. She's been breaking rules since day one and it's about time she did something hard, and did it right.

By One Point?
I knew there was some catch with George. I kept thinking the test was wrong or something, but to fail by one point? I know people who have been in that situation with the Grammar exam we take at FIU. It sucks. I passed first time... don't mean to toot my own horn...but well...toot toot. But had I failed by one point I might have lost my mind. I love how Lexi says she has a photographic memory. They say that it doesn't exist. But I think it does...I like to think some people have extraordinary gifts. Some people have great voices, faces, bodies, talent...why not memory? I like the possibilities in life. It means we don't have to accept that science is all there is. I'm a Romantic Realist. Believe in the impossible, but not the insane. Like testing you can fly by jumping off a sky scraper? Insane. Maybe trying it out every day for a year on a small, safer scale...might be a little more practical. And if it can't be done...maybe it just wasn't your year. Try again when you're 80. I'm a little out there...I been reading this creativity book. It's called, "A whack on the side of the head." I totally recommend it. It's informational and fun to read. So let's see if Georgie gets his wings. But if he and Lexi are drinking...I hope he doesn't do his rendition of Sexy Back that Yang referred to.

Bailey...is back. She's seen the big picture. God love her. The world will make sense again.

The chief is back at home.

Let's take a mental picture of the near perfection that was the end of this season...and see what develops next season. I'm sure they'll be old flames and new fires to put out. But as long as Derek and Meredith get it right I am happy. A lot of people get to fall in love and get married. But few go through the whirlwind story that took us four seasons to reconcile the personal issues on both sides. When you have the great love story...you have to fight for it. When the people are essentially good, the timing is just right...the universe will lend a hand.

So be extraordinary...Go out into the summer and love harder, live harder, and come back ready with new ideas to improve on the old idea of what love means to you.

You know you love me XOXO...GG's Finale

So how much did you love the ending of Gossip Girl?

For those of you who don't know, Gossip Girl is this Cruel Intentions/O.C. hybrid that the CW put into play this season. While it is only on its first season I see a whole lot of potential.

Why the OC just had to die.
I think the main downfall of the OC was having Mischa Barton as the lead. While we loved how Marissa could never get it together, Mischa seem to resonate that on-set and finally they had to just kill her off. I would have done it too. But I would have got someone hotter than her little sister and then Taylor to replace her. They could have gone so many different ways with that show. I really loved the dynamic between the characters. Sandy Cohen was the coolest dad ever on TV. He surfed for God's sake. There are a lot of offbeat things I miss about the show but I realized it really did start to get crappy. They had this weird thing with Chris Brown for a while and then I just got lost. Taylor just couldn't carry the lead role the way Mischa did. She was pretty enough, but her character was just not as well developed as the rest of the cast.

Chuck Basstard
Just when you think the Basstard has changed, he turns around and reverts to his old way. Thankfully he hadn't been with Blair long enough for it to even matter. It seems she may have a new beau waiting in the wings as we speak. Let's hope she has a good time in Tuscany.

I thought about it being really cute for a second that Double Trouble had finally bonded emotionally, but I knew it wouldn't last. They didn't even wait till the summer was over to prove me right. It was one week of dating and then bam, Chuck was back to his old bastard ways. His father should never give motivational speeches like that. He scared Chuck out of being a decent human being.

Serena and Nate
Who are you kidding? We were all just waiting for this story line to come full circle. Nate and Blair were a cute couple...but Nate and Serena are hotter. I feel like Serena is automatically dumpy and frowny when she's with Dan. Blondes do have more fun, and they have even more together. Man-bangs and Goldielox should have a pretty steamy summer. P.S. Serena needs to take some more acting lessons over the summer. That crying scene with Blair was pitiful a couple episodes back. Her face looked puffy too or was it just me? I loved what Blair said about being sisters and what's you is me. It was right on target. Good friendships are just like that. Even they have a twisted history it doesn't ruin the sentiment for me.

Georgina Sparks
She finally got what was coming to her. It was kind of too easy. But I loved all the great exposure that Michelle Trachtenberg got. She's a pretty good actress and I think she'd just been waiting for her chance to jump back into something more mainstream and popular. Hopefully they'll create a show for her or something. She really grew on me when she became Buffy's kid sister. I heart Dawn. She's really sweet, even thought they had her play a bitch. And as Blair reminded her, there's only room enough for one crazy bitch in town. But in NY...you're only queen of the mountain for so long.

Jenny's Humps
Jenny...is interning for Blair's mom...Interesting development. Could this help her get back at Blair? Will this open all the doors that Jenny's been desperately trying to break down? Who knows...time will tell.

Rufus and Lily
I won't even talk about what a lame cop-out that was. They just shake hands and go about their business like they didn't just have sex the night before her wedding. She's of course going to cheat on her new husband some more... The question is... What will he do in retaliation? Bass senior doesn't look strike me as the forgiving type. '

Last but not least...Dan and Vanessa
If that isn't the most cutest emo indie couple I've ever seen in my life. IDK what is. I want Dan to grow his hair out. He looks way cooler with long hair. It would give him some more street cred. I love how Vanessa's so secure with who she is in the face of all that fortune. That's the way New Yorkers are. They can go from a Ballroom to the Ghetto and still not lose their nerve. If she got nothing else from Nate she at least got a booty call and an SAT score. Get it V. They're gonna make little indie babies. They're gonna make art all night long. And what a cop out...Dan should have slept with Georgina. It wouldn't have mattered because they were really on a break. Damn upstanding gentleman. But it makes me like Dan so much more for being so damn honorable.

Well Gossip Girlers, did I just say that? I mean fans of G.G. I'll see you at the season premiere.

You know you love me. XOXO

Desperate Housewives wrap-up

So tell me why Desperate Housewives just pulled a One Tree Hill. For those of you who don't know. This season of One Tree Hil is a flash forward in time for the cast beyond College and somewhere into middle adulthood. Which, should we say for some was right on target with their real ages. Come on, even when we were watching Dawson's Creek, we knew those kids were too grown, and no bodies were that hot was in our high schools. But even so we should be willing to go along with this ride. One Tree Hill has never had the best acting, so I won't go into detail if you're not interested because I haven't been watching as diligently as I should have. After the redhead sank the limo and Dan went to jail I've just been blah with that show. I love that Lucas is a writer, I love that they try to portray writers in a sexy more attractive light. I'm all for it. I think all writers are sexy in their own way. I could go on, but I know what you're here for. The Desperate Housewives scoop.

Now I'll admit I haven't been watching Desperate Housewives as diligently either. But I pick it up every now and then. They've had some crazy stuff go on too, but they have a good formula. And...I just can't get enough Eva Longoria. That hair, the skin tone. She's perfect. I like Marcia Cross too. Actually all the girls have grown on me. I even like the new housewife, Katherine (Dana Delaney). She's finally made her way into the group, ushering out the useless role of Edie. I never really liked Edie. She was one of those useless human beings who was just manipulative, self serving, and not even pretty enough to save face about it. The thing we pull from the other ladies is that though they may do wrong, at the end of the day they are essentially wives, mothers, and caregivers. Edie couldn't even take care of her son. When you have kids...get your shit together. It may be hard, I may not know what it's like. But if you make the decision to have a baby...grow up and take care of it. Don't leave it to anyone else, unless you're giving it up for adoption for people who can really care for it. Single parents included. You can do it alone. We don't all come from ideal homes. Single parents don't get enough credit where its due. I know single parents who bust their hump and do a damn good job. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent.

Let's go over the crazy. How crazy is it that the real Dylan is dead and that she was replaced by a Romanian look-alike. It's crazy, but it makes good tv. Because it's just crazy enough to believe. Besides, with that neighborhood's history of dead babies being buried at the bottom of pools, suicides and frozen husbands in the basement, it's no surprise that Katherine had all those demons in her closet. If you thought they were going to get a normal neighbor, you were wrong. What's funny is that the Gay neighbors are the most normal ones. The strangest problems I've seen them deal with were that shitteous fountain and that crass ice sculpture. Aww you thought the baby Angel was cute? A cupid-like creature at a wedding? How cliche. Bite your tongue off if you liked it. Well...I like swans...Ice swans are cute. I actyally thought the ice castle with the vodka moat was cute. Well, to each his or her own. (That quote is usually so sexist.) Anyway, I want to talk about the future, because apparently it went from the next morning, to a week after, then to five years down the road. It's kind of nuts.

The Solis Family

Why is Gabrielle's kid so chubby? Cute...But Chubby. I'm not saying to be mean...but it's just that we all know Gabrielle Solis. For her to have fat children is like Victoria Beckham wearing something that isn't skin-tight. It's just not natural for her. She was dressed so frumpy. Maybe you thought she had changed, until you saw how upset she was they were messing with her designer clothing. This story lines should be fun. I hope Carlos has his sight back or he has at least learned how to fully deal with his blindness. I'm all for representing everybody in the spectrum of characters. But unless his blindness is serving the story line, they need to correct. I'm a story teller by nature. I need to see it leading somewhere. Because otherwise I'm on the Island with Jack and Kate running from the "The Others," waiting to get rescued. ("Lost" for those who didn't catch on.)

The Scavo's

Whoa...So her kids are in their teens now. I knew when I was watching Tom say goodbye to his little girl that, that story line was hinting towards something more. That girl is going to be hell next season. She will be older, wiser, and even more sinister. But it seems like Lynette already has her hands full with her car-stealing boys. I kind of love it. Those twins have always been trouble. But I like their mischief.
I suppose Lynette's cancer is in remission. She survived five years, so I am excited to see where she goes now.

The Delfino(t)s

Who the hell was Susan kissing? It was not our Mike. I did not go through all that crap with Mike to have her end up with someone else. Homeboy found his stolen son, holding people at gunpoint, getting hit by Orsen with a car, going into a coma, had to fight to win Susan back, then she trekked into the woods to get him back under some crazy ceremony. It's too much shit I done gone through with Mike and Susan. And to see her coming home kissing some other dude. (Namely that Neo Nazi on Grey's,(The Ambulance Rising Above Episode I like to call it) and I think he was also on Queer as Folk.) But there are some burning questions there.

The Van De Kamp's

What is up with Bree's fashion sense? She's gotten darker in her old age. I don't like it. I prefer her sunny and Martha Stewartish. But it's a new direction. Where the hell is that baby she stole for her daughter? I have barely seen it? Is it still alive? Did the daughter come take it back? Did I miss something? Anyway she forgave Orsen...which might be a weird relation to why Mike is gone. But who knows. I want to know.

The Mayfair's

So Dylan went to Paris and now she's engaged. Where is Katherine's husband? Did they leave him out on purpose? Maybe he left her after he found out the truth. We can see she's finally part of the group now. I like that. She's had enough time to get in deep with the girls.

Well wherever the show takes us, I am willing to watch the first three episodes. They have enough time to fill in little details that we might have missed out on. The time gap will be the mystery in itself. There might have been some exciting murders and scandals in between. Because just when you thought you knew everything, the rug is torn right out from under you.

That's my Rapport, stay tuned for that Final Grey's blog.

OOC

First off, I must apologize to you. I read the writer's blog and was thoroughly satisfied with their insight, so I kind of blanked when it came to my own assumptions. So I am sorry to keep you in suspense. If you weren't eagerly awaiting this post, hopefully you still enjoy what lies ahead.

Addy, where art thou?

This episode was a return to form. We had been missing that eclectic mix that Addison brought to Seattle Grace. Let's shake things up, let's throw a few things into the pot. It's no wonder I missed her so much. I forgot how integral to our little fishbowl of doctors. Much like the rest of us, she must be wondering, "What the hell is going on at Seattle Grace Hospital?" She comes back all leggy and fabulous of course, filled with questions, commentary, and great hair. She always looks good. The red really suits her. If ever there were a seminar on how to be a doctor with style, she'd be teaching it. Of course, that's to say real doctors sometimes just don't have the time. But I think it matters not just with doctors, but appearance is of value in every avenue of employment. What you can't fix with surgery, you can surely dress up with the right colors, cuts, and clothing. Style is not a monetary thing anymore. There are affordable stylish opportunities out there people. But I digress. Addison is greeted by our Bailey who I think is one of her closer friends. They have a bond if you don't remember. Addison tried help to save Bailey's favorite patient, who had cystic fibrosis. (The guy from American Pie.) Bailey was there when Addy had Poison Oak on her vajayjay. She is the only one, outside of George that Bailey really finds comfort in. I think it's hardest for Bailey because none of the the other doctors are dealing with a family and kids. Why is that? There are no kids in this reality. Only nieces and other peoples babies. Maybe it's a reflection on our white collar society that are cutting out children all together or delaying them in search of career, fulfillment, love, etc. (I'll explore this theory another time.) But Addy really only has two good girlfriend, Bailey and Callie.

The Happy Couple isn't so happy. The first is a great change is visible in Addison when she actually hugs Meredith. The relationship between her ex-husband and the estranged ex-mistress is still awkward, but it's still warmer than usual. But it's better anything that will form between Rose and Addy. However, I will say that I enjoyed the exchange between them in surgery when Addison put her foot in her mouth about the whole Mer/Der situation. Rose was very forthcoming and she has that Grey personality that could possibly make us like her more, but I'm not sold just yet. Meredith and Addison have a complicated relationship because at first Meredith did nothing wrong, she was the wronged woman. But then by the actual end of Addy's marriage to Derek, Meredith knowingly engaged in an affair because he couldn't stop looking at her, she couldn't breathe with him watching her. Then he kept her panties in his pocket. And we know he deflected when she asked for them by just pulling up his pants and continually asking "What does this mean?" But now we're at a shaky juncture in the Mer/Der saga. McDreamy's building a house. Will he get a new McDog? Will Rose inherit Mer's McLife? Will this cause Meredith to finally step up and fight for what she wants, or will she cower and recoil the way she did when Addison showed up? Keep in mind that Addison, however wrong when she came back, was still Derek's wife. He did the honorable thing, the stupid thing, but honorable none the less. Is it because I'm Asian? Since Burke left, Cristina's been exhibiting Denny syndrome. She has not been as professionally pathetic as Izzy, but she's been doubting herself. It's been manifesting itself in her brash relationship with Hahn. She's become a huge glutton for punishment. She's grasping at straws for any sort of mentorship from Hahn. But what she doesn't know Izzy, the comeback kid

Just when you thought she was down for the count, she saves the game. Granted, she was just in the clinic for the day. You thought she couldn't do that much damage, but she managed to turn it around. The chief did say that a couple people would change their specialty and some even drop out of the program. Maybe Izzy will be a different type of doctor? She's definitely got the chops, it's just she needs the confidence and the instincts. I think when she tries to be too hardcore she forgets her patient care, but when she's all about patient care, she's mediocre in her medicine. She needs to find the balance she needs. That quote from Ghandi that Addison gave her, really kicked her into gear. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I believe in those words. It's a damn good motto. Can't always live up to it. But hey, we can be idealistic without being perfect. To err is human is also a good one.

Callie's reciting the Vagina Monologues

So she's chicken only as Margaret Cho would say. If there's fish on the menu, which there clearly is,( Some cardiothoracic fish) Callie's not biting. Not a nibble, not a pinch. I didn't really think Callie was into girls. She's just got that female football player vibe. It's easy to see where one might be confused, but who knows. There might be some exploration there. Television is very Gay this month. First Hahn on Grey's and now Eric and Asher on Gossip Girl(which I will be blogging about later, if you enjoy that show, check back.)

Bailey's home is broken
Just when I thought she was back, she's really broken. She's doing the single mom thing, but she seems to be strong. I know that can only last for so long. She's gonna crack one of these days. She really needs someone. George is, well George.
I like this little relationship between him and Lexi, but I kind of miss the Izzy/George friendship. I mean just because they are broken up doesn't mean they can't be good friends. I never really thought her "love," for him was genuine. I think it was more confusion and heartache speaking. And on George's par, why shouldn't he have sex with the gorgeous blonde? Even though it wrecked his Vegas marriage. I think it was misguided and we are willing to forget it, but they need to move on. I liked their dynamic. "I'm not your sister!" Remember when they had him buying tampons? I loved that episode. The God of Vanity

He's the same. Exactly the same.
She's having his baby--not!
Quite the cliffhanger. We'll discuss it more, next time.

So I know this blog was too late to beat the new episode but I am posting it anyway. I worked on it, so it's being posted. But the next blog will definitely be done this weekend and beat the next episode. School's pushed me back with a lot of work and reading that I have to do. Stay tuned, stay interested. This thing was almost finished too, which is what kind of makes me mad. So it's a little lackluster.
